Opportunities

Participation in KMC events has brought new developments and experiences for many artists: exposure on national TV, performances on stage in front of thousands, national and international tours and most importantly paid gigs.
For artists selected to perform at KMC 2012, there will be opportunities to make connections with KMC related companies and individuals to get possible distribution deals, make music videos, make connections for tours, and possible bookings at restaurants, hotels, festivals, and other venues.

Application process

1) Applications will be accepted from Jan. 15th - Mar. 15th and can be done here or at Sonicbids.
2) The application processing fee through this site is 1000yen (currency converter) payable by paypal. (go here to set up an account) Artists residing in Japan can pay by paypal or by bank transfer.
3) Genres accepted are: Alternative, Blues, Classical, Electronic/Dance/DJ, Folk, Hip-Hop/Rap, Jazz, Latin, Metal, Pop, Rock, Urban/R&B, World, Gospel, Contemporary Christian, Acoustic, Americana, Contemporary Classical, Avant-garde, Holy Hip Hop, Punk, Funk, Adult Contemporary, Singer/Songwriter, Soul, A Capella
4) Go to either the application page on Sonicbids and follow the instructions or apply using this site by clicking the button to the right.
5) Complete the application in full. (Artists applying from outside of Japan must answer the questions at the bottom of the form)
6) Press the "Send" button at the bottom of the form. Please review the information on the confirmation page carefully before pressing the "Send" button again. A confirmation mail will then be sent to the e-mail address included on the application form.
7) Send 2 mp3 tracks to the e-mail address listed on the application form, or if you would like to use Soundcloud or a similar site instead, please include the url link and the title of the songs.
8) Once we have confirmed the receipt of your application and tracks, we will send an invoice to the address listed with instructions on how to make payment.
9) After payment has been confirmed, your application will be processed.
10) Selection results for Sonicbids submissions will be announced by April 15th and all others by April 16th.
11) All selected artists will have until May 1st to confirm that they will be attending, after which all unconfirmed spots will be offered to other applicants.
12) Due to risk of cancellation, confirmed artists not residing in Japan will be required to show proof of air travel by July 31st in order to keep their performance spot. (see FAQ page for further details)
